On your turn, choose one:
- Welcome: play a card; take Tidepool cards by value match and/or by sum group(s). You can take multiple groups in one play if they share no cards.
- Gather: combine your played card with one or more Tidepool cards into a group with a target value (max 10). You must already hold another card of the target value to welcome the gathering later.
- Introduce: place your card face-up in the Tidepool. Your turn ends.
Then the tide (two actions; three with the Hungry Tide):
- Flips the top guest. If it can take cards, it takes every value match plus every disjoint sum group; otherwise the card drifts into the Tidepool.
- Never moves your active gathering, and never moves the Magnificent Starfish: only you can welcome her.
How an afternoon ends:
When the guests pile and your hand are both empty. Leftover Tidepool cards go to whoever took cards last.
Two ways to play:
- Afternoons: draft four hope cards, commit to two.
- Daydreams: choose a specific challenge: two fixed hopes, a harder wish, and sometimes a twist that bends one rule for the afternoon.
